Which IELTS test is right for me?
Most people will take the IELTS Academic test to support their study and application to study overseas. These days, higher studies in English-speaking countries (UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand – to name a few) have mandated for IELTS Academic score for pursuing higher studies in these countries.
Is IELTS Academic needed only for studies in ‘English-speaking’ countries?
These days, non-English speaking countries, Germany, Spain, Denmark and many European countries, and South-east Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia etc insist on IELTS Academic score.
What score should I be targeting in IELTS Academic?
The scores may vary for the course that one opts for. However, a minimum baseline of 6.5 is a must for being eligible for any course in these countries. Having said that, students should aim for higher than that in all cases for a better chance of securing their study-seat in their dream college/ university

If the average of the four components ends in .25, the Overall Band Score is rounded up to the next half band, and if it ends in .75, the Overall Band Score is rounded up to the next whole band.
Should I focus on band score or individual score?
This is a typical question many students are unaware. As detailed above, a student should set a baseline of 6.5 as a target. It is always better/ best that student targets minimum 6.5 in each module, which in turn gives a band-score of 6.5. After all, higher the individual module scores to 6.5, higher the band-score
